Weepinbell is in the shadows of Tangela. It has access to double powder but also to Razor Leaf and Wrap, two other very good moves. The problem is it can’t take a hit, can’t boost its defensive abilities, doesn’t always crit with Razor Leaf (85.9% of the time), hates paralysis, and has a poison type that makes it weak to Psychic and not resist Ground. Its niche is that it can be very annoying end-game due to Wrap, and that it can literally obliterate Water types. Weepinbell is a usable gimmick.

    - Sleep Powder
    - Stun Spore
    - Razor Leaf
    - Wrap

    Set Details

Double powder gives Weepinbell the ability to efficiently spread statuts through the opposite team. Razor Leaf OHKOs Staryu, Slowpoke (53.8% of the time, almost always after a wrap cycle) and 2HKOs Blastoise. Wrap allows you to gain momentum, put stuff in KO ranges, and to do potentially a ton of damage to a paralysed team.

    Other Options

Weepinbell learns Swords Dance and has a potent 90 attack stat but Scyther is better at that role.

    Checks and Counters

A lot of pokemon in the tier can pressure Weepinbell with either super effective damage or paralysis. It gets absolutely murdered by Fire types. Venomoth can paralyse it and 3HKO at worst with Psychic. Tangela outspeeds and Stun Spores but can’t do damage. Unparalysed Porygon usually forces it out since Weepinbell has to take a turn to paralyse it if it doesn’t want to hope for no Wrap miss. Abra can paralyse and 2HKO but really doesn’t like paralysis. Nidoking has high odds of 2HKOing but also hates being paralyzed.
