Borat is definitely all talk. It actually pisses me off how much respect he gets from the community, especially on smogon. I've never seen someone become a respected pokemon player simply by talking with confidence like they know shit better than everyone else. It is actually pretty crazy. He is kind of like Donald Trump in that way. Just talk with confidence and people will respect you. Fuck skills and actually knowing what you're doing, just talk with confidence.

Smogon (especially when Bobby was around--a dark time indeed) tends to be a black hole of intelligence, so it doesn't surprise me how many naive kids kissed his ass. However, some of it was clearly disingenuous and done in a laughable attempt to fit in, which I presume worked.

 

Been having a go with this team Rooster; I really like it. Its very fun to play with as it has an unconventional approach for GSC; just stack offense rather than an introcate defense balance but it actually works quite nicely. Muk/Houndoom/Heracross have a suprisingly nice coverage synergy behind them. I see what you mean about Raichu; I tried replacing it with sleep talk raikou and it just doesn't work. The OHKO to rhydon & golem is essential as this team has few answers for them, plus the paralysis on turn 1 without inflicting damage to allow them to rest it off seems very essential for setting up charizard, plus validating a good explosion threat. I still don't like Raichu on this team though; everything else is bang on the money but Raichu is too weak. I found this guy works better for the balls out offense approach of this team; Jolteon - thunder wave, growth, thunder, hidden power water. Huge improvement to an already very good team imho.

 

I've recently changed Snorlax to Clefable. I don't think it is better but when you beat someone with a laxless team you get more bragging rights lol.

 

Haha well thats certainly true; so have you lost your sleeper now or do you have sing on clefable? Not sure I'd go for that transition; surely lax is a key hub for defense against raikou & zapdos? Personally I would never omit snorlax unless i was using blissey; whats your defense against elec legendaries?

 

Either way its a really good team; it punishises stallers hard and thats actually quite hard to make. Did you come up with this from a blank sheet?

 

Not a blank sheet. It was originally a crappy joke team I saw somewhere that just didn't work but I saw potential. I changed half (now over half) of the pokemon so I guess it is basically mine now. So I sort of made it. It's not even the same team anymore as it first was. Yeah clefable probably isn't the best choice. But it has worked for whatever reason against some people. I almost beat Sabrina with it and she is pretty good . I would have won but I guessed wrong on one of her explosion reads and loss my clefable which loss me the game. I dealt with her zapdos by wasting her thunder pp with heracross. Which is a shitty strategy but it worked. The chance of thunder missing mixed with the chance of hitting rest during sleeptalk can work in your favor sometimes. But yeah not having a special wall hurts so I'll probably put lax back.

It is a good team. It is very offensive and overwhelming. And when people see raichu, and then muk, and then houndoom, and then "WTF why is this charizard using sunny day and hyper beam and why did it just beat me???" they get confused and don't know the optimal play. People aren't used to playing against a team like this and that alone can win you a lot of games with it. A lot more people know about it now though so when they see my lead raichu they are more prepared so I have to work a little harder now.

 

Haha yeah when I see a Raichu lead I normally brace for a roster of Weedles & Bulbasaurs. Still, complacency can be a bait up for Encore / Endure Reversal. What do you typically use toxic for?

 

Ehh. Nothing really. Encore is incompatible with surf I think so I have to use something and it just seemed better than the other options. And rain dance hurts my team rather than help it. I took Clefable off and am now using Piloswine. Testing gimmicky replacement number 2. My dream is to use a lame stall team to make it to grand finals of a mt and then bust out this Charizard team last game and win the tournament with it and brag about it until the end of time.

He is alright. I've haven't properly battled him in full form (or anybody really) in a long time. I hope he enters the next master tournament. I'll beat him > . [Gen 2] OU replay: Roostur 2 vs. MovieAboutCancer - Pokémon Showdown he got the Charizard team's hands one day when the team wasn't even nearly as good and he'll get em again.

I think I remember this game. I missed the beginning and arrived at turn 23.

It goes to show the surprise factor of this team. But once it's out there, it's a lot easier to play against.
